The Knitting Industries' Federation is the National Employers' Organisation for the £ 2bn UK Knitting industries. The KIF enjoys the voluntary membership of around 300 firms who collectively account for 65% of UK output and employment of 58,000 workers.
In addition to a wide range of services, including Industrial Relations, Health and Safety, Government lobbying and statistics, the KIF also has a capability of handling the environmental issues affecting the UK Knitting industries, including dyeing and finishing.
In particular, the KIF has emerged as the lead body in the UK on the
problems associated with colour removal from textile effluent and recycling
of the water once the colour is removed on which it is hoped to carry out
major research in the foreseeable future.
